Wesley United Methodist Church to host Nativity Walk

This set is from the occupied West Bank in Israel, a gift from Cathie Beatty's aunt and uncle.      A Nativity Walk will be held on Sunday, November 20th, from 12-3 pm at Wesley United Methodist Church.      The public is invited to come view various nativity sets on displays and read the histories of the sets. This will be a great way to get you in the true holiday spirit.      Plan to include a stop at the church at 516  2nd Ave, Vinton,  when you go downtown for the store Christmas open houses that afternoon.

Soup's on!

Soup Supper, Friday, November 11th, 4pm-6pm... with all of your favorites! Chili, Chicken Pot Pie Soup, and Wisconsin Cheese – Free Will Donation will be accepted!   Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community, at 1807 W 5th St. in Vinton!

Prairie Creek Church to hold annual Chili and Oyster Soup Supper

  Prairie Creek Church will be holding it's Annual Chili & Oyster Soup Supper on Saturday, November 12, from 4-7 PM.  Prairie Creek Church is located at 2745- 55th St. (on Hwy 150) 8 Miles N.E. of Vinton.

Honor Flights to hold fundraiser for future flights

A chili supper will be held on November 17 at the Fire Station from 4:30 to 7:30. Supper is to benefit Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. There will be duck and goose calls given away as a door prize, they are custom made by Leo's custom calls in Davenport, Iowa. The stand is also included in the door prize. Please come out and support Honor Flight and enter to win the door  prize.

Cornerstone Baptist Church to host Thanksgiving dinner Sunday, Nov. 20th

The Cornerstone Baptist Church will be hosting a Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday November 20th. This dinner is free of charge and open to all who wish to attend. The dinner will follow the morning service which begins at 11:00 AM. There will be a special speaker and special music to celebrate God's goodness to us and to our nation.  

Center Point Library hold 'Gift in a Jar' workshop

Nov. 12—Deadline for registering for Friends of Library holiday craft workshop “Gift in a Jar.” Workshop is Sat. Nov. 19 from 10 to noon in the Library basement. $10 registration fee for making two quart jars—dry cookie mix and dry soup mix—all ingredients, jars and decorations included. Mail registration with fee and phone number to Friends at Box 54, Center Point 52213 or drop in Friends box on Library counter.

“Out on a Limb” With the Parks & Recreation Department It is hard to believe that not only are we gearing up for Thanksgiving events and programs but we are talking about programs that start in December. I hate to say it but I think the year 2011 is slipping away. I personally am not ready for winter but the one thing I have learned over the years is that I can’t control the weather.
